Global ATHENA Leadership Award®
Supporting, Honoring and Developing Women Leaders
The Global ATHENA Leadership Award is presented annually to individuals who have achieved a high degree of professional excellence, have assisted women to develop their full potential by opening up leadership opportunities, and whose body of work has made a national or international impact.
In 1994, ATHENA International (formerly known as ATHENA Foundation) Board of Directors established the Global ATHENA Leadership Award. This award is presented each spring at the ATHENA International Leadership Summit. Global Leadership Award Recipients are chosen based on the following criteria:
- The individual has achieved the highest degree of professional excellence.
- The individual has assisted women in reaching their potential.
- The individual’s body of work has had a national or global impact.
Global Recipients are not chosen from the pool of ATHENA Leadership Award Recipients recognized by local communities during a particular year, but rather are selected based on their level of national or global influence and prominence.
