The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award, established in 2007, honors emerging leaders who meet the criteria below. The award is a natural extension of the prestigious ATHENA Award, which has been presented to over 5800 women leaders around the globe since 1982.
Criteria
ATHENA Young Professional Award Criteria:
- The individual is an emerging leader who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession
- The individual provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community
- The individual clearly serves as a role model for young women personally and professionally
Recognition Piece
Each ATHENA Young Professional Recipient receives a recognition piece reflective of the cut crystal prism on the ATHENA Award Sculpture, symbolizing the multifaceted qualities of great leadership. This lovely award is engraved with the ATHENA Leadership Model and is presented, like the sculpture, on a black base. Each recognition piece includes personalized engraving with your ATHENA Young Professional Award Recipient’s name.
License and Cost
A license for this program is available to any existing ATHENA Award community that wishes to participate. The cost for the license, which includes the recognition piece and program materials, is $250 annually. Program materials and the engraved award are included with your license.
Now Is The Time
“It was particularly meaningful to announce this new award in our 25th anniversary year. After a quarter century of supporting, honoring and developing women leaders, we are so proud to extend the celebration of great leadership to up-and-coming ‘women to watch’ in ATHENA communities.”
Robin Kottke, Past Director of Programs
We are proud to announce that KPMG, a professional service firm providing audit, tax and advisory services has joined ATHENA International as an international underwriter for the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Program.
