ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award®

Supporting, Honoring and Developing Women Leaders

The ATHENA Award® was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment—qualities embodied in the ATHENA leadership model. The Award is unique in both scope---local, national and international---and the ATHENA mission upon which it is based. The ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award® is presented to an organization for supporting and developing women leaders.

This prestigious, organizational leadership award is a natural extension of the original ATHENA Award and actively supports ATHENA’s mission and a quote attributed to Plato:

ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award® Criteria

The business or organization:

Creates an organizational culture that encourages women employees to achieve their full leadership potential

Gives back to the larger community of women and girls by providing and/ or supporting leadership development opportunities and initiatives

Recognition Piece

Each ATHENA Organizational Leadership Award Recipient receives a lovely recognition piece reflective of the cut crystal prism on the ATHENA Award Sculpture, symbolizing the multifaceted qualities of great leadership.

Each recognition piece bears the reason the organization or business is being honored:

Supporting, developing and honoring women leaders

Creating balance in leadership

The recognition piece is engraved with the Recipient name, year the award is received and the presenting organization.

Program License and Cost

A license for this program is available to existing ATHENA Award communities that wish to participate. The cost for the license, which includes the recognition piece and program materials, is $250 annually.
